Fiona is a senior associate in the commercial, IP and IT team in London. She specialises in non-contentious intellectual property, IT and commercial law, including branding and trade mark issues, IP protection, copyright and software licensing, and consumer law issues.
As an experienced IP and commercial lawyer, she advises on a broad range of commercial agreements, including terms and conditions of business, agency, distribution and supply agreements, consultancy agreements, collaboration agreements and IP and software licensing agreements. In addition, Fiona advises on trade mark opposition matters before the UK and European Union Intellectual Property Offices and has recently assisted on the successful defence to an EU opposition that was appealed to the Board of Appeal and the General Court.
She acts for clients in a variety of sectors including technology and education and has particular expertise in the data/advanced analytics sector, having spent 18 months on secondment with an international consultancy firm. She also works with a number of higher education providers, advising on compliance with consumer law, the CMA guidelines and Office for Students registration.
Fiona qualified in 2007 and joined the firm in 2011. Prior to embarking on a legal career, she worked for GlaxoSmithKline after completing her Master of Science degree in Chemistry at University College London. She is a member of the Society for Computers and Law and the intellectual property sub-groups of Multilaw and the European Law Group.
