Profile

Linzi is a partner in the family law team in London. She has established a strong reputation in all areas of family law, including divorce, the financial implications of relationship breakdown, wealth protection through pre- and post-nuptial agreements and Children Act disputes, and often represents high net worth individuals in cases with an international element. Having developed a particular specialism in LGBTQIA+ family issues, including international surrogacy, she is regularly involved in pre-conception agreements.

Listed as a leader in her field by the main legal directories, Linzi is described in Chambers UK as ‘a smart, forward-thinking, intuitive family lawyer with exceptional client care skills’. Legal 500 notes: ‘Linzi Bull is hugely intelligent, tremendously committed and so very insightful, her clients love her, and with good reason'. She is recommended in the Citywealth Leaders’ and Power Women Lists and was last year ranked by Spear’s as one of the top 50 UK family lawyers.

Linzi is a member of Resolution, the leading membership organisation for specialist family lawyers in England and Wales, as well as a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL), and provides expert commentary on family issues for press and radio.

Recent work highlights

  • Acting alongside colleague Tammy Knox, for the Safeguarder in the Supreme Court case of XY (AP) (Appellant)(Scotland) UKSC 2019/0134 [2020] UKSC 26.
  • Representing a high profile same sex couple in an international surrogacy case and successfully obtaining parental orders from the High Court.
  • Acting in an international non-marriage case, heard at the High Court, working with / coordinating the overseas legal team and advising on issues of jurisdiction as well as the current law on void and voidable marriages.
  • Acting for the biological father and his civil partner in ML and AR v RW and SW ([2011] EWHC 2455), a complex and long-running Children Act dispute, advising on their application to spend time with their two daughters and on issues including parental responsibility and enforcement.
  • Advising in a complex and long-running financial remedies case where issues included significant non-disclosure, bankruptcy and non-payment of UK and US tax.
  • Advising and assisting a client in relation to obtaining their gender recognition certificate.
