James is a senior associate in the construction and infrastructure team. His practice covers contentious and non-contentious areas across the full spectrum of construction, development, energy and infrastructure projects.
James is experienced in helping clients to negotiate and amend standard forms of contract including the JCT, FIDIC and NEC suites and is regularly involved in drafting bespoke construction and engineering documentation. He has acted on large-scale residential schemes, hotel developments, social and residential care homes, university and student accommodation and energy schemes. He advises on all construction and security documentation, including bonds, collateral warranties, direct agreements, guarantees and escrow agreements.
On the contentious side, James advises clients on dispute avoidance and dispute resolution, helping achieve commercial solutions to avoid the necessity of issuing proceedings. He also has experience across different ADR procedures within the Technology and Construction Court and a broad range of adjudications, in particular those relating to defective works, professional negligence and contractual conformity. James has recently worked on a number of disputes in respect of health and safety systems including fire stopping and asbestos.
