Clare is a partner and head of the London private client team, which is recognised by The Legal 500 as 'one of the best in the field' while she is described personally as having ‘a wonderful mixture of technical excellence and warm personality'. She has developed a particular interest in family office work through her role as a trusted advisor to a number of high net worth families and has a focus on relationships with landed and business families, including some of the firm’s longest standing clients.

She is a member of STEP, the world's leading organisation for private wealth professionals, and writes the probate section of the STEP handbook. A regular speaker to fellow professionals on tax, trust, estate planning issues and family office matters, Clare also writes for various legal publications and, in conjunction with STEP and Globe Law and Business, is editor in chief of the STEP Handbook for Advisors which was described as ‘a must not just for external and internal advisors to business families, but also for family members themselves and everybody working with them. It is profound, comprehensive and written by the best in the field.’

Clare has been listed as one of the ‘50 Most Influential’ people in the private client sector for the seventh consecutive year. She has also previously been shortlisted as Trusted Adviser of the Year in the STEP Private Client Awards and shortlisted for Woman of the Year in both the Citywealth Powerwomen Awards and the Citywealth Magic Circle Awards.

  • Instigating complicated negotiations with the HMRC on the valuation of a substantial shareholding in a private family company.
  • Advising executors and trustees on a complex family dispute involving constructive trust claims, inheritance act claims and estoppel.
  • Acting to preserve a substantial estate to trace assets taken from a vulnerable person prior to death and liaising in relation to complex cross-border issues and multiple claims.
