Verity is a senior associate in the pensions team. She assists pension scheme sponsors and trustees of both private occupational pension schemes and large public and industry-wide schemes on the full range of issues relating to those schemes, including strategic matters such as benefit design and funding, scheme mergers, de-risking projects, scheme closures and wind ups and day-to-day tasks like rule amendments, document consolidation exercises and member complaints. She also provides specialist support on corporate transactions and advises on the auto-enrolment requirements falling on employers.
With a strong interest in public sector pension schemes, Verity has worked on a number of high profile projects in the public sector domain. She handled the pensions aspects of the establishment of the Care Quality Commission, involving scheme members transferring from three public sector schemes, and advised on projects run by the Home Office, the Serious Organised Crime Agency and the National Policing Improvement Authority.
Verity is an active member of the Association of Pension Lawyers and volunteers at the Pensions Ombudsman. She has been listed as a ‘recommended lawyer’ in The Legal 500. Prior to joining Penningtons Manches Cooper’s Guildford office in 2015, she worked for five years in a leading City law firm as well as in-house in the legal team at the Pension Protection Fund.
