Emma is a partner in the commercial dispute resolution team. She thrives on helping her clients reach pragmatic solutions to their disputes – whether those are commercial or regulatory disputes. In the commercial field, she regularly advises on breach of contract, breach of warranty claims, professional negligence and shareholder disputes resolved through both mediation and litigation. She is currently acting for a number of clients regarding swaps and derivatives litigation.
In the regulatory field, Emma has a particular interest in data protection and FOIA matters, fire, health and safety compliance, and environmental matters. She regularly advises clients facing litigious data subject access requests, internal investigations or interventions from their regulator, and also acts in related civil disputes. She deals with a variety of alcohol and entertainment licensing issues.
Emma advises both businesses and individuals, and is known for her practical approach and for successfully liaising with regulatory bodies such as the HSE and Environment Agency on behalf of clients. She is keen that her clients are able to keep up with the changing legal landscape and regularly provides lectures and seminars on topical issues. In the latest edition of Chambers UK she is described as ‘a delight to work with; incredibly conscientious and hardworking’.
Emma trained at the firm and qualified in 2003, having read Jurisprudence at Hertford College, Oxford. She is a member of the UK Environmental Lawyers' Association and the Health and Safety Lawyers' Association.
