Javier is a senior associate in the marine, trade and aviation team in the Madrid office. He specialises in ship finance transactions, having almost 14 years’ experience in advising shipyards, shipowners and financial institutions in the shipbuilding sector on the sale, purchase and financing of all types of vessels within the Spanish market.

He has particular experience in the Spanish tax lease system and the Spanish RD 874 financing structure as well as on syndicated financing (also involving export credit agencies) and the registration and flagging of all types of ships. He has been recognised by the Chambers Europe legal directory as an ‘associate to watch’ within ship finance.

I enjoy assisting clients in a proactive way, especially when team-work and collaboration with other colleagues is required. From the beginning of any matter, I try to thoroughly understand the clients’ needs and adopt a value-for-money approach that satisfies their expectations.
