The corporate team at Penningtons Manches Cooper has advised Birmingham headquartered IT service provider Intercity on its acquisition of Chandler Communications.
The acquisition follows strong organic growth for Intercity, with a 108% year-on-year increase in new customers since 2020 and is part of an ongoing strategy to support its strong organic growth.
Established in 1986 by Perry and Jo Chandler, Chandler Communications is a well-respected family-run business with over 350 customers across the UK. The company shares a people first approach to business with Intercity, which is also family owned, making the two organisations an ideal fit.
The deal sees Chandler Communications colleagues become part of Intercity with the business’s Northampton site also joining Intercity’s network of UK offices.
The corporate team advising Intercity was led by partners Emma Bryant and Richard Wrigley with support from paralegal Kajol Harrar. The wider team included commercial partner Oliver Kidd, corporate tax associate Leonie Langley, employment senior associate Charissa Upton and real estate associate Lauren Bray.
Andrew Jackson, CEO of Intercity said: “Chandler Communications is a great fit for Intercity and this deal is an important step in our long-term plan to grow through careful and considered acquisitions. Working with Penningtons Manches Cooper was an absolute pleasure, and I’d particularly like to thank Richard and Emma for their expertise, advice and leadership on this strategic acquisition for Intercity.”
Emma Bryant, corporate partner at Penningtons Manches Cooper said: “It has been great to work with Intercity on its strategic acquisition of Chandler Communications. With huge synergies between the two organisations, this presents an exciting opportunity for Intercity to build further on its strong organic growth.”
