Penningtons Manches will be participating in the Rotary Club of Guildford District’s Indoor Cycling Challenge to raise money for Guildford-based cancer charity, Topic of Cancer (www.topicofcancer.org.uk/).
Taking place at the Turnfit Studio in Guildford on 8 October 2016, the event seeks to increase awareness as well as raise funds for essential research into cancer immunotherapy.
The UK is considered one of the world’s leaders in research into cancer immunotherapy, according to Topic of Cancer. The research centre which it supports is located at the University of Surrey and houses one of the main immunotherapy research teams in the country. The charity’s key aims are to advance the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of cancer through cancer immunotherapy research; to raise funds to support immunotherapy research into the causes, diagnoses and treatment of cancer; to increase awareness of immunotherapy as a better treatment and possible cure for cancer; and to provide local cancer support groups for patients, survivors, carers and families.
Penningtons Manches’ clinical negligence specialists are delighted to be involved in Topic of Cancer’s latest event. Lucie Prothero, a senior associate in the clinical negligence team, who is based at the firm’s Guildford office, says: “We act for many clients and their families who have been diagnosed with cancer and are undergoing active treatment. This means we have seen at first-hand the difference that advanced treatments can make to an individual’s chance of fighting the disease, as well as the vital role that support groups play in helping them and their families deal with cancer. Any initiative which helps in the fight against cancer and improves the lives of those affected by it is a worthy cause so we are proud to be taking part in the cycle challenge again this year.”
