New super priority visa service in India is announced

Posted: 20/02/2013

During his recent three day mission to India, the Prime Minister announced details of a super priority visa service which will enable frequent travellers from India to have their visas processed in just one day.

This new service, which will come into operation in March 2013, was introduced in response to concerns expressed from a number of prominent Indian businesses that the UK was becoming increasingly hostile to foreign workers. The scheme aimed at regular visitors, business travellers or skilled workers, but not students, will allow applicants at centres in Mumbai and Delhi to acquire a six-month, multiple entry visa in just 24 hours.

Speaking during his trip, David Cameron said: “We want to make sure that we are attracting... the best and the brightest and in terms of our visa operation here in India, it is the biggest one we have anywhere in the world. Nine out of 10 of those who apply for a visa get one.”

Currently the UK processes around 400,000 visas each year for Indian nationals wishing to come to the UK.

Penningtons’ India group has produced an inward investment brochure specifically targeted at the Indian market.
