Julian Perez-Durias

With comprehensive experience of advising on insurance and reinsurance matters, Julian has been heavily involved in the multi-billion dollar aviation insurance claims arising out of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, working on all aspects of the litigation. He has been responsible for handling marine and aviation insurance claims on behalf of insureds, and has also acted for marine underwriters, preparing detailed advice on a variety of coverage issues.

Julian is also involved in a series of complex aerospace claims, advising insurers on coverage and the technical aspects arising from the issues at play. Additionally, he works across a broad range of shipping matters, including charterparty disputes, admiralty claims, collisions, fires and groundings. Having studied German at Oxford University, Julian is a fluent German speaker and has utilised these skills in his professional capacity, including in a role based in Allianz’s Munich headquarters. He is also a fluent Spanish speaker.
