Profile

Kawsar is an associate in the construction advisory and dispute resolution team in London, specialising in construction and related insurance disputes. 

He has assisted on a variety of claims that have arisen under construction contracts, including those with respect to professional negligence matters relating to consultants, termination, defects, delay, and payment claims. Kawsar’s clients include property owners, developers, employers, contractors, professionals, and insurers. He has experience of various forms of dispute resolution including TCC litigation, adjudication, and pre-action disputes. Kawsar has also assisted in claims relating to fire safety, and has recently been involved in reviewing works contracts arising from the developer’s pledge to assess and remediate buildings with fire safety defects.

Kawsar qualified in March 2023, having finished his training contract after joining Penningtons Manches Cooper as a paralegal in July 2018. 

Recent work highlights

  • Acting for the owner of a rocket engine test facility in defending a high value claim from a proposed tenant.
  • Advising an insurer client on coverage issues under a design and build professional indemnity policy in respect of a range of cladding and other defects claims.
  • Acting for a developer with respect to a water ingress and fire safety claim against the architect and cladding contractor.
  • Reviewing ‘works contracts’ on behalf of a freeholder and management company of the building, in respect of the agreement with the participant developer.
