The corporate team at Penningtons Manches has been selected as a winner in Acquisition International’s 2015 M&A Awards which celebrate the outstanding achievements of those involved in the global deal market. The firm has been recognised as the ‘best for accelerated M&A – UK’ as a testament to its recent transactional activity and high calibre client service.
Acquisition International is a monthly corporate finance magazine which works alongside leading industry analysts to publish the most up-to-date figures and commentary. It prides itself on the validity of its awards which are given solely on merit and document some of the landmark deals over the last 12 months.
Penningtons Manches’ corporate practice includes a group of experienced accelerated M&A professionals with a strong track-record of advising both listed and private companies. Partner Matt Martin and his team rose to prominence in this area when acting for All Saints Retail on its £107 million share disposal and investment with Lion Capital. The business was in urgent need of cash and underwent a limited marketing mandate which led to an accelerated process. Last year the team acted for the shareholders of Needle & Thread on the sale of the business out of administration to a newly formed investment vehicle. The ability to meet tight deadlines also made it possible to deliver the takeover of Brightside Group Holdings PLC by Anacap which was undertaken by scheme of arrangement.
Speaking following the announcement of the award, Matt Martin said: “Accelerated M&A generally combines an in-depth knowledge of M&A transactions and restructuring and insolvency advice. Given the very tight timetables that the circumstances necessitate, it is important for specialists to be familiar with what is required to be done in a distressed situation to deliver a very fast acquisition, disposal or investment, either with or without an insolvency process. We’re delighted to receive this accolade which acknowledges the strength and depth of expertise across our firmwide team.”
Jonathan Hicks of Acquistion International added: “Over the past few years, the M&A Awards have seen continued success across the corporate landscape, and reflect the ongoing recovery of the global economy. With this year attracting competition that spans across a diverse range of sectors and regions, it is truly an honour to recognise the winners for their success.”
