Free advice offered by clinical negligence and personal injury teams to people with claims currently being handled by law firms forced to close by SRA

Penningtons Manches LLP is offering free advice and support to clients of firms of solicitors that have been forced to close by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA). The SRA has recently announced that 136 law firms in the UK have closed because they have been unable to obtain professional indemnity insurance. A number of these closed firms are near to Penningtons Manches’ offices where our clinical negligence and personal injury teams are happy to advise clients of these closed firms on their options for their clinical negligence or personal injury claims.

Philippa Luscombe, partner in the clinical negligence and personal injury team, said: “Times are particularly difficult at the moment for smaller law firms. The outcome of the SRA approach has resulted in many good small law firms being closed down and their clients having to seek alternative solicitors to handle their claims. It can be complicated to change solicitors unexpectedly but we can advise clients on their options and the implications of changing solicitors and should be able to deal with all the necessary work to assess the case and arrange a transfer of the file if people wish to instruct us. Alternatively, clients should talk to the Law Society or the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and ask them for recommendations for specialist personal injury or clinical negligence solicitors in their area. It is very important to check that any new solicitor has the appropriate accreditations and expertise.
