Penningtons Manches Cooper reflects on key industry issues during London International Shipping Week

Today sees the launch of London International Shipping Week (LISW19). During the week, people from throughout the global shipping industry will come together at more than 200 meetings, seminars and functions, highlighting the important position London holds on the international maritime stage.

Organised in conjunction with the Department for Transport, LISW is expected to attract the full spectrum of industry specialists; among those represented will be charterers, shipowners, ship managers, shipbrokers, lawyers, regulators, bankers, ship and bunker suppliers, commodity traders, port authorities and operators, insurers, maritime service providers, ship builders, engineering and technology companies.

As part of LISW19, Penningtons Manches Cooper is proud to be hosting the Indian Maritime Association (UK)’s Autumn Seminar. Entitled ‘Ship recycling and ship safety – India focus’, the seminar will focus on issues relating to the impact of EU regulations on ship recycling in India and will also look at cargo liquefaction and its impact on ship safety. Guests will be welcomed by India relationship partner, Phillip D’Costa who is the chairman of the IMA (UK) and plays a key role in the firm’s award-winning India group, and shipping partner Darryl Kennard will be amongst the panel of expert speakers.

Following the merger between Penningtons Manches and industry specialists Thomas Cooper, shipping is a major focus for the firm and its lawyers are looking forward to seeing the maritime community come together in London this week.
