Penningtons Manches’ corporate team acts for James Dolan Logistics on acquisition of rival logistics services provider

The Penningtons Manches corporate team has advised Cambridge-based logistics services provider James Dolan on its acquisition of a Suffolk-based rival, Dooley Rumble Group.

Founded by former directors Neil Dooley and Simon Rumble in 1986, Dooley Rumble specialises in freight forwarding, warehousing, fulfilment, export packing and UK distribution in the Ipswich area. This latest deal follows shortly after the acquisition of Ipswich-based Green & Skinner (Haulage) Limited in April 2016, in which Penningtons Manches also acted for James Dolan. The enlarged group now has an annual turnover of more than £10 million.

Commenting on the deal, James Dolan said: “I am proud to have secured two of the most iconic logistics companies in the region. These acquisitions are a very positive move for the group, and we are looking forward to the opportunities and benefits they will bring. The expertise of each company complements each other well, and by bringing the two together we can expand our capabilities and resources to benefit our customers.

“Green & Skinner will move over to the larger Dooley Rumble site as soon as possible under the guidance of the group operations director, Ian Madgwick. Acting on the transaction alongside the corporate finance team at Ensors Accountants LLP, the Cambridge team was led by partner Helen Drayton and assisted by associate Katharine Bush.
