Penningtons Manches LLP was delighted once again to support Surrey Sports Park’s Sportsability Day which took place on Friday 22 April.
Four local schools which cater for students with special needs were welcomed to the Park for a day of new sporting activities. They were given the chance to take part in lacrosse, walking basketball, football and climbing and their endeavours were supported by coaches from Surrey Scorchers and Fulham Football Club.
“The Sportsabilty Day is an incredibly important event for our students. Trying new sports builds their confidence and self-belief. It’s fantastic to be supported by the Penningtons Manches team too and there is a great feel-good factor around the day,” said Mark Packham, from The Abbey School, Farnham.
Throughout the proceedings, the students were joined by an enthusiastic team from Penningtons Manches LLP. The firm’s involvement is a result of a long-standing partnership with Surrey Sports Park which aims to increase community participation in sport.
Reflecting on the day, Simon Bickerdike, partner at Penningtons Manches, said: “We very much value the opportunity to support the Sportsability Day. It’s a chance for us to work closely with the team at Surrey Sports Park on an initiative which allows so many local children to try their hand at different activities and to see how regular participation in sport can be such a positive factor in their lives.”
Richard Kaye, head of commercial at Surrey Sports Park, commented: “Not only is it fantastic to see so many students here at Surrey Sports Park trying out new sporting activities but it also reflects the strong team ethic of Penningtons Manches that their staff are here encouraging these inspirational young people. We are always delighted to host events such as this particularly when it is in conjunction with a partner like Penningtons Manches which has been with us since we opened in 2010.”
