Penningtons Manches LLP has confirmed that it has renewed its sponsorship of Surrey Sports Park, an agreement dating back to the summer of 2010, which is aimed at increasing community participation in sport across Guildford and the surrounding areas.
Surrey Sports Park is a multi-million pound development, owned by the University of Surrey, containing some of the most up to date sports facilities in the country and is fast becoming one of Europe’s premiere sites for elite sport, physical activity, well-being and leisure. It also provides first class facilities for disabled athletes which it showcased during the Paralympic Games in 2012 when it was selected as an official training venue.
As part of its involvement with the Park, Penningtons Manches supports an annual Sportsability Day which offers local children with special needs the opportunity to try out a variety of sports in the hope that they will be inspired to continue taking part in them after the event either in or out of school.
The firm’s relationship with Surrey Sports Park also reflects its close association with the University of Surrey which it has advised over a number of years. Last autumn it was delighted to assist the 2015 Back the Bus campaign which raised £20,000 for a new Team Surrey minibus to help transport students all over the country to training, matches and competitions. The bus was officially launched at the University on 10 February 2016.
Speaking following the renewal of the sponsorship agreement, partner Simon Bickerdike, who is based at Penningtons Manches’ Guildford office, said: “We feel privileged to be associated with a complex offering such outstanding facilities which are accessible to people of all ages across Surrey. The next 12 months promise to be an exciting time at the Park and we are very much looking forward to working together to deliver more initiatives that can be enjoyed by so many members of the local community.”
