International child relocation lawyer named as one of The Lawyer’s Hot 100 2016

Anna Worwood, an international child relocation specialist at Penningtons Manches, has been recognised in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 2016 list for making a significant impact on the legal world over the last 12 months. Published annually, the Hot 100 highlights "100 lawyers who were at the top of their game during the last year and who are set to shape the legal landscape in the 12 months ahead".

Considered to be one of a small handful of “go to” lawyers in London for child relocation cases, the stellar growth of Anna’s international private children law practice during 2015 was partly fueled by her ability to handle complex financial cases as well as  sensitive private children issues.

During 2015 she was instructed by many high profile, ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth clients on divorce and separation cases involving high value financial provision, international and internal relocation, and prevention of potential abduction.

At the end of 2015 Anna was instrumental in a significant Court of Appeal judgment which settled a controversial area of law by clarifying that there is no reason to differentiate between cases of internal child relocation (within the UK) and those of external or international relocation (outside the UK). This new law has been welcomed by family law practitioners, who recognise that the impact of moving a child within the UK can be just as dramatic as an overseas move.

According to The Lawyer: “Her involvement has led the law of UK relocation matters to develop and be heard in the most prestigious of courts.”

Anna was in demand on two other fronts during the year. In her role as President of the Private Client Commission of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA), she hosted its annual congress with close to 1,000 delegates and led a working session on art law, a growing area of interest for private wealth lawyers.

She co-authored a second updated edition of 'Relocation: A Practical Guide', the first comprehensive guide to the law concerning relocation of children which is published by Jordans. She was also commissioned by Thomson Reuters in 2015 to be the general editor of a global guide to the law relating to the relocation and abduction of children. Both publications are due for publication in spring 2016.
