George Warman Publications (UK) Ltd, the Guildford-based publisher of the UK’s leading dental subscription journal, Dental Update, has been acquired by the Mark Allen Group, for an undisclosed sum.
Mark Allen is a progressive media business, which delivers high-quality content through market-leading journals, magazines, books, events and websites for the healthcare, education, business and consumer markets.
Penningtons Manches acted for the selling shareholders of George Warman. The multidisciplinary team included corporate partner Simon Bickerdike and lawyers Bryan Park and Chinedu Uhiara who were assisted by members of the firm’s tax, employment and property departments.
Other leading titles published by George Warman include The Dentist, a news and dental business-orientated controlled circulation monthly, Practice Management, Dental Therapy Update, Orthodontics Update and DCP Update.
The Mark Allen Group has also acquired the entire share capital of Headfirst Publishing, which had a controlling interest in George Warman. George Warman will continue to be based in Guildford.
Commenting on Penningtons Manches’ role in the deal, George Warman chairman, John Siebert, and CEO, Stuart Thompson, said: “At every stage of our dealings with Penningtons Manches, we knew they were being assiduous in protecting our interests and advising us on the appropriate course of action. All this was done swiftly, efficiently and with good humour despite the challenges of the transaction process.
“We would not have the slightest hesitation in recommending Penningtons Manches to other potential clients.”
