In April, Tech London Advocates (TLA) announced the launch of the Home Office Hours programme. This exciting initiative comprises a series of sessions to be held throughout the UK at which immigration officials will present on a particular topic and then, together with immigration experts, conduct one-on-one sessions with attendees.
Leslie Sarma, immigration specialist at Penningtons Manches and co-chair of the TLA Immigration and Talent Working Group, says: “The Home Office Hours initiative is an incredibly exciting step in making immigration policy more accessible to the tech sector and helping it to make the most of immigration policy. It is also an opportunity for entrepreneurs and businesses in the tech sector to meet the relevant Government officials and learn more about the options available to them.”
The first of these sessions will be held at 3pm, 14 May 2014 at Google Campus, and the topic will be 'Options for Innovators' with a special focus on the expansion of the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) category to the tech sector. Russ Shaw, head of Tech London Advocates, immigration officials and representatives from Tech City UK, the endorsing body for this category, will be speaking at the session. Following the session, immigration officials, along with immigration experts from Penningtons Manches, will be conducting one-on-one sessions with attendees.
Pat Saini, partner and head of immigration at Penningtons Manches, says: “We are delighted to support TLA at this event and to continue our tech sector work in London and throughout the UK.”
