An online support service for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) which need to recruit skilled overseas workers has been extended until 28 February 2014. The pilot was launched by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) in partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA) and provides a step by step guide to sponsoring an overseas worker. This service is available via the GLA website.
As stated by the Home Office, in ongoing efforts to support SMEs, ‘UKVI took part in a recent Google hangout event chaired by Russ Shaw of Tech London Advocates, alongside representatives from Penningtons Manches LLP. The event included a discussion of the pilot, and a question and answer session covering how to employ skilled workers from overseas’.
Pat Saini, partner and head of immigration, is quoted as saying: “The hangout covered a wide range of topics from business visitors to start-ups, and addressed many practical concerns facing SMEs. This initiative, along with the SME helpline piloted by the GLA and UKVI, is terrifically exciting and we look forward to continuing to work together.”
Penningtons Manches’ immigration team is able to assist with a wide-range of visa services, including advising on the points-based system and visitor categories. Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact one of the members of the team.
