Youth mobility scheme applications for Taiwan accepted from March 2013

Posted: 28/01/2013

From 7 March 2013, the UKBA will accept Tier 5 (youth mobility scheme) visa applications from Taiwan nationals at the visa application centre in Taiwan.

Taiwan was added to the list of countries participating in the youth mobility scheme of Tier 5 on 1 January 2012 and the scheme enables eligible Taiwanese nationals between the ages of 18 and 30 to live and work in the UK for up to two years.

Individuals must meet the eligibility requirements and register for a certificate of sponsorship through the Youth Development Administration iYouth website between 19 February and 25 February 2013. There are 1000 certificates allocated to Taiwan with 500 certificates being available on the dates specified in February and a further 500 certificates being made available in May this year.

Details of how to apply for a youth mobility scheme visa will be provided when the individual receives confirmation of the certificate of sponsorship. The visa must be applied for within three months of receiving this confirmation.

Further guidance on the Tier 5 (youth mobility scheme) visa and the documents required to support an application can be found on the UKBA website.
