Penningtons Manches LLP hosted a networking reception for more than 80 members of a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) SME delegation to the UK at the firm’s offices in St Paul’s, London on 18 November 2013.
CII has been bringing an SME delegation to the UK for the past three years to explore possible partnerships between Indian and UK SMEs. This year the CII SME delegation visited London, Leeds and Birmingham to meet supply chain companies in manufacturing and IT; visit university R&D facilities to explore possibilities of product and technology development contracts with UK university R&D centres; and view advanced manufacturing units.
The keynote speaker was Virendra Sharma, MP for Ealing Southall and chair of the Indo-British All Party Parliamentary Group, who addressed the delegation on the Labour Party’s policy on promoting businesses, business relations with India, its policy to promote SMEs, and the Small Business Saturday initiative. Other speakers included Ash Verman, chairman of Gateway Asia and T T Ashok, co-chairman of the CII National MSME Council.
