Penningtons Solicitors LLP’s India group has announced the launch of a competition which challenges students to identify business opportunities in India’s expanding consumer market place. The winner will be awarded a two week internship in the offices of Tata Capital - either in Mumbai or London, depending on the location of the institution where he or she is enrolled.
Under the competition, students are invited to submit a business plan based on the title ‘Tomorrow’s products for today’s India – routes to market for new products to satisfy India’s consumers’ demands and needs’. Each submission must contain an executive summary of up to 1000 words as well as additional supporting details. Entries should be sent to future.leaders@penningtons.co.uk no later than 12:00 pm (UK time) on 1 October 2013.
The judging panel is made up of four senior executives - Brian Tempest, chairman of Religare Capital Markets and former managing director of Ranbaxy; Geoffrey Van Orden, chairman of the EU-India Chamber of Commerce and Member of the European Parliament; Praveen Kadle, managing director and CEO of Tata Capital Limited, and David Raine, chief executive of Penningtons Solicitors LLP.
In addition to the main prize, certificates of recognition will be awarded to the authors of the top 10 business plans. They will also be offered the opportunity to be associated with research projects undertaken by Penningtons’ India group.
Commenting on the competition, Rustam Dubash, head of the India group at Penningtons, said: “This competition requires students to think strategically and detail how businesses can gain a competitive advantage in India’s changing economic climate. Entries will be judged on their originality and vision as well as relevant analysis of the market place and competitors. We are very much looking forward to reading students’ proposals and wish all the entrants the best of luck.”
