Following the UK Government’s announcement in May 2012, tuberculosis testing requirements will become part of the visa application process for people planning to come to the UK for more than six months from 31 December 2012.
Nepal is one of 67 countries which will be included in the programme as according to the World Health Organisation, it has a high incidence of TB. The UKBA has said that it will only accept TB screening and certificates from two clinics operated by the International Organisation for Migration in Kathmandu and Jhapa in Nepal. The tests will start on 2 January 2013.
Anyone coming to the UK for less than six months, for example on business or tourism, will not need to undergo TB testing.
