Immigration Minister Damian Green has announced details of a new pre-entry tuberculosis (TB) screening programme. As a result, migrants from 67 countries with a high rate of TB wishing to stay in the UK for more than six months will be screened before they are able to secure a UK visa.
The new measures come as figures show there has been an increase in TB cases in the UK during 2011 of 5% from the previous year.
