Changes to the immigration rules come into force on 1 October 2012

Posted: 01/10/2012

As we previously announced on our website, changes to the immigration rules are coming into effect on 1 October 2012.

The new rules will affect those applying for further leave under all working and student routes, visiting routes, long residency, discharged HM forces, ancestry routes and the points based system.

Anyone with limited leave to enter or remain in the UK and who wishes to extend their visa, must apply within 28 days of their current visa expiring. The application for further leave will be refused if an individual has overstayed their visa by more than 28 days when they apply.
