Changes on the Sponsorship Management System (SMS) for tier 4 sponsors

Posted: 20/04/2012

Penningtons has received confirmation from the UKBA after we raised a query regarding reporting on students using the SMS.

We queried why the option to report on a student who has missed ten expected contacts had disappeared, after our team was inundated by HTS clients as a result.

The UKBA stated that it was aware this particular option was not available from the drop-down box on the SMS and the issue had been escalated with the relevant team. In the meantime the UKBA advised that sponsors submit the report to the following email address: Migrantreporting@ukba.gsi.gov.uk. The email should contain details of the student who is being reported and the nature of the report. The UKBA also confirmed that the email should mention that the report is being made by email because the option 'student has missed ten expected contacts' has been removed from the SMS.

Penningtons has also queried the removal of the 'breach of conditions' reporting option on the SMS with the UKBA and we are currently awaiting a response. In the meantime we recommend that sponsors also use the email mentioned above to instances of breach of conditions.

Finally, Penningtons would like to remind sponsors that it is important to keep a copy of the email you send as evidence of having submitted a report and all other reports should continue to be reported on the SMS in the usual manner.
