Networking lunch and roundtable discussion: Freedom of speech in UK higher education
An experienced panel of lawyers, including leading counsel from Blackstone Chambers, will lead a discussion for senior figures within higher education, covering:
- The impact of new freedom of speech duties and expanded OfS enforcement powers.
- The University of Sussex v Office for Students case.
- How freedom of speech duties interact with the duty to prevent harassment, and the proposed duty of candour.
- Managing protests, controversial speakers, and safeguarding concerns.
- Practical tips to navigate each of these areas.
The session is aimed at senior management and will be interactive, with Chatham House Rules, to offer space for candid discussion among peers.
