Negligent breast augmentation

A young woman, who was self-conscious of her breast asymmetry and their size relative to her stature, sought surgical advice to lift her breasts and improve her appearance and confidence.

She was told her appearance would be improved with specific implants, but in the event these merely exacerbated the asymmetry and left her suffering depression. It was established that the surgeon was negligent and that the implants were inappropriate in her case.

She was awarded in the region of £30,000 in compensation for her pain and suffering and to cover the costs of future corrective surgery.
