Fatal effect of failing to recognise acute myocardial infarction
In this case, we successfully pursued a claim for the widower of a lady whose GP failed to recognise the signs and symptoms that should have led him to diagnose unstable angina or acute myocardial infarction (MI).
Either diagnosis should have resulted in her urgent referral to hospital to be investigated and treated, but instead the GP advised she had gastritis and sent her home. 36 hours later she suffered MI and tragically died within a few hours.
