Child scalded by cabin crew member receives sizeable damages

We represented a 12-year-old child who sustained injury while travelling on a flight from England to Turkey.

During the journey, a crew member spilt boiling water on our client’s right arm causing significant burn. We subsequently received instructions to pursue a claim against the airline under Article 17 of the Montreal Convention.

We persuaded the defendant to concede liability and a consultant plastic surgeon was instructed to prepare a report on the injuries and prognosis. Sadly, our client was left with some permanent scarring.

Our team was able to agree a suitable settlement figure with the airline’s legal representatives and this was subsequently approved by a judge at an infant approval hearing.
