Profile

Ellis is an associate in the banking and finance team, based in the London office. He specialises in finance law, including bilateral and syndicated lending, international trade finance, and banking regulation and compliance. His clients include both banks and corporate borrowers, and he practises with a particular focus on the operational, regulatory and transactional requirements of London branches of overseas banks.

With specialist knowledge of ship and yacht finance, Ellis has worked on the sale and purchase of vessels as well as advising on shipbuilding contracts and the accompanying finance and registration requirements.

After studying law at the University of Liverpool, Ellis joined the firm in 2015 and qualified as a solicitor in 2019.

Advising an international logistics and transport company on the finance and delivery of two new build container ships.
Assisting a UK-based shipping company on the sale of vessels and the construction, financing and delivery of new build vessels.
Acting for the London branch and UK subsidiary of a Chinese bank in relation to the transition from LIBOR-referencing loan facilities and the corresponding impact on its lending portfolio and operational requirements.
Advising a bank on a US$500 million revolving credit facility and parent company guarantee for a UK-based subsidiary of a Chinese company.
