Profile

Ed is a senior associate in the marine, trade and energy team in the London office. He has regularly advised and acted for owners, charterers and P&I clubs across a broad range of dry shipping disputes during his time in Singapore and London.

His experience also extends to wet shipping matters, such as vessel breakdowns, unsafe cargoes, groundings and collisions. Ed has represented clients in London, Singapore and Hong Kong arbitration, as well as English High Court proceedings.

Having joined the firm as a trainee in London in 2015, Ed moved to the firm’s Singapore office in 2017. He remained in Singapore after qualifying and undertook a secondment with a P&I club in Tokyo in 2019 to gain client-side experience, before moving back to London in 2020.

Recent work highlights

Advising charterers on the cancellation of a time charterparty following a prolonged period of off-hire.
Advising owners in negotiations for the fixing of a long-term time charter.
Advising the builders of an LNG bunker vessel in a dispute with subcontractors.
Acting for owners in the defence of a cargo claim following a main engine breakdown.
