Tom Palmer-Anderson

Associate

Tom is an associate in the Oxford family team, advising on all aspects of family law. His work includes divorce, financial disputes, children, cohabitation and Family Law Act matters as well as pre-nuptial agreements and post-nuptial agreements.

He has experience working on complex high net worth financial remedy cases, including those involving complex business interests, international assets, crypto-assets, conduct issues and the enforcement of financial orders. Tom has also assisted clients with disputes regarding children, including those with elements of international child abduction, relocation and domestic abuse.

I am passionate about working with clients to achieve the best possible outcome for them, taking a pragmatic and strategic approach. I pride myself on guiding clients with empathy and sensitivity, to help them feel supported through what can be a difficult period.

As a member of Resolution, an organisation which promotes a constructive approach to resolving family law matters, Tom always endeavours to help clients resolve disputes in a constructive manner. Previous clients have described Tom as having a ‘calming presence’ and ‘inspiring confidence’.

Tom is a law and business graduate of the University of Warwick, which gives him a particularly strong understanding of corporate structures and the commercial considerations that can arise in family law matters. Before qualifying as a solicitor, he worked as a criminal disclosure paralegal at the Serious Fraud Office and as a document review paralegal on a public inquiry for the Cabinet Office.

Acting in complex contested financial remedy proceedings involving planning issues, business interests and properties, which involved input from multiple experts.

Financial remedy dispute involving conduct

Assisting a client to successfully pursue a conduct argument in financial remedy proceedings, achieving a private FDR indication which provided a six-figure add-back to their spouse’s financial position, enabling a settlement to be reached.

International child abduction

Acting in Children Act proceedings for the father following the abduction of his children to another jurisdiction, whilst separate Hague Convention proceedings were ongoing.

Spousal maintenance arrears

Acting in contested proceedings pursuing the enforcement of spousal maintenance arrears exceeding 12 months, achieving a beneficial settlement for the client shortly prior to the final hearing.
