Stephen Rome
Partner
Stephen is a partner in the commercial dispute resolution team and is based in the Birmingham office.
He is a commercial litigation and insolvency specialist with significant experience in advising on complicated, high-value matters that require in-depth knowledge across multiple disciplines. During his career, Stephen has spent time on secondment to both an international engineering company and a high street bank.
I am often approached to advise on complex disputes that intersect a number of areas of law, requiring an analysis of the issues from multiple perspectives, before providing clients with valuable solutions that warrant the risk and costs that come with litigation. At the heart of my practice is building a winning strategy despite the uncertain nature of litigation.
Working with businesses of all sizes, from large corporations to SMEs, Stephen’s track record spans a range of sectors, including real estate, financial services, automotive and energy. In recent years he has acted for clients in the Court of Appeal in three appeals concerning unfair prejudice, contempt proceedings and freezing injunctions. He succeeded in all these appeals. Stephen is ranked as a leading individual in the Legal 500 where he is described as ‘a superb leader’ with ‘a great combination of technical acumen and business nous’. He is the deputy vice-president of R3, the UK’s leading trade association for insolvency and restructuring professionals.
