Sarah Mant

Managing associate

Sarah is a managing associate in the employment team. She acts for individuals and corporates on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious issues arising prior to, during, and beyond the end of employment.

Her work spans a variety of sectors, but she has a particular focus on financial services and the application and implications of the regulatory requirements of the FCA and PRA on the employment relationship. On the employer side, Sarah liaises regularly with HR and senior management teams, providing practical behind-the-scenes guidance, managing procedures, and drafting documentation on their behalf. Clients value her responsiveness, understanding of their particular business and values, and tailored input on day-to-day matters, sensitive situations, and long-term strategic planning.

It’s important to look beyond the pure legal position and to keep sight of the bigger picture. My aim is to help clients identify what they ultimately hope to achieve and to be pragmatic in seeking a solution and strategy that gets them there as smoothly and cost effectively as possible.

Sarah Mant, Managing associate

Sarah’s individual clients are primarily senior executives facing challenges at work, regularly entailing allegations of discrimination, who have frequently praised her for her empathetic approach and the support she provides at what can be a very difficult time. Sarah often secures early, confidential settlements on the best possible terms.

Her work typically includes negotiation of complex terms of employment or departure, devising exit strategies, providing guidance on redundancy, capability, grievance or disciplinary procedures that often have a discrimination or whistleblowing angle, advising on covenants, and concluding matters by way of settlement. Her experience of advising both sides enables her to bring insight and pragmatism to the problem in hand, whether acting for the employer or employee. Sarah has a keen interest in equality and sex/maternity discrimination matters and is co-chair of the firm’s gender committee.
