Profile

Graham is a senior associate (FCILEx) in the housing team. With over 15 years’ experience, Graham joined the firm in 2007 and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, having qualified in 2011. He has previously worked in the in-house legal team of a large housing association and has extensive knowledge of both the internal and external issues affecting the sector. 

He acts for housing associations of all sizes in charging their property portfolio and dealing with all aspects of their asset management programmes including stock transfers, large and small size property disposals (by auction and private treaty) and property buybacks.

Graham advises on the sale and purchase of both private and social housing properties, through New Build Homebuy, Social Homebuy, OpenMarket Homebuy, Right to Buy/Right to Acquire and Help to Buy. He also provides aftersales services including resales, staircasing, lease extensions and equity charge redemptions.

Recent work highlights

  • Acting for a housing association in its property due diligence to enable the provision of bond finance of £250 million.
  • Advising a large lender on the certificate of title and property due diligence for a charge of £15 million.
  • Acting for a housing association in its rolling asset management programme (value c£20,000,000 per annum) including stock transfers with other housing associations, auction sales, buy backs and sale by private treaty.
  • Providing advice on shared ownership leases in respect of the staircasing provisions, nomination clauses and covenants.
  • Acting for a housing association in the sale of its property on a new build development of over 150 units on both a shared ownership and private sale basis.
