Matilda is a senior associate and trained mediator working across the London and Reading family law teams. She advises on all areas of private family law including divorce, financial remedy proceedings, private children work, cohabitation issues and injunctive proceedings, often with an international element.

She also assists in the preparation of pre- and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements, working closely with colleagues in the private wealth sector to provide a seamless service to high net worth individuals and their families. Matilda has a deep understanding of LGBTQ+ family issues, including international surrogacy. As a mediator, she helps clients navigate through all issues arising upon separation and divorce including financial matters and parenting issues.

I aim to guide my clients through the separation process with dignity and empathy, working alongside them as a mediator or lawyer. My breadth and depth of experience in both children and financial matters allows me to provide practical, strategic and calm support to allow families to rebuild their lives.

Matilda Kingham, Senior associate

With experience of using alternative dispute resolution as a means to settle cases, Matilda regularly assists with the negotiation of voluntary financial settlements, which frequently include complex financial issues. She tries her best to resolve cases out of court in a constructive manner. When litigation is required, Matilda acts in children and financial matters in the Central Family Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Barristers working with Matilda have described her as  ‘brilliant’ and have said that her ‘clients are lucky to have her’.

To gain a greater insight into the psychological impact of separation, Matilda completed a one-year course in psychoanalysis and counselling at Tavistock & Portman. She is a member of the Family Mediation Council and an active member of Resolution, the leading membership organisation for specialist family lawyers. Matilda trained at Penningtons Manches Cooper before qualifying into the family team in 2015.
