Linzi is a partner in the family law team in London, with a strong reputation in all areas of family law including divorce, the financial implications of relationship breakdown, wealth protection through nuptial agreements, and private law Children Act disputes (including internal and external relocation cases).

She often represents high net worth individuals in cases with an international element. Linzi has acted in reported cases before the High Court and Court of Appeal. She also acted for the safeguarder in in the Supreme Court case of XY (AP) (Appellant) (Scotland) [2020] UKSC 26. As head of the modern family team at Penningtons Manches Cooper, Linzi has a particular interest in modern family cases including international and domestic surrogacy, AI and ARTs cases and polyamorous relationships. She has advised a client who successfully obtained their gender recognition certificate.

I aim to provide a bespoke and holistic service for my clients and to support them throughout my instruction and afterwards. I want my clients to feel that theirs is not ‘just another file on my shelf’, and that I have considered the long-term implications of our work together – both personal and financial.

Safeguarding

Acting alongside a colleague for the safeguarder in the Supreme Court case of XY (AP) (Appellant)(Scotland) UKSC 2019/0134 [2020] UKSC 26.

International surrogacy case

Representing a high-profile same sex couple in an international surrogacy case and successfully obtaining parental orders from the High Court.

Polyamorous relationship dissolution

Acting for a party in the dissolution of a polyamorous relationship, in relation to both children and financial arrangements.

Variation of maintenance case

Acting for the respondent in a variation of maintenance case, reported as Simons & Li [ 2023] EWHC 1626 (Fam).

Gender recognition certificate

Advising and assisting a client in relation to obtaining their gender recognition certificate.

Children Act dispute

Acting for the biological father and his civil partner in ML and AR v RW and SW ([2011] EWHC 2455), a long-running Children Act dispute, on their application to spend time with their two daughters and issues of parental responsibility and enforcement.

Occupation and non-molestation orders

Representing a party in complex Family Law Act proceedings where there were issues of long-standing coercive control, narcissism and abusive behaviour. Successfully obtaining an occupation order and a non-molestation order.

International post-nuptial agreement

Providing guidance on an international post-nuptial agreement and protecting assets in excess of £40 million.

US financial order

Advising on the implementation of a UK pension sharing order within a US financial order under Part III of the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings Act 1984.

Occupation and non-molestation orders
