Kelly Tomkinson
Senior associate
Kelly is a senior associate in the Oxford office, with more than 25 years’ experience as an immigration lawyer. With an international background, Kelly was first drawn to immigration law having lived in the USA, Thailand, Iran and the Philippines.
Specialising in advising corporate and private clients on the categories of stay, based on their particular businesses, work and skills, Kelly handles many areas of immigration including British nationality, family/spouse applications, visitors, entry clearance bans and overseas domestic workers. She has an excellent track record of obtaining results in complex cases and, where necessary, challenging the Home Office. Kelly has built up a reputation for finding solutions and has a loyal following, with a range of clients, from multinational corporations to Oxford University spin outs, in many different sectors, including the film, creative and entertainment industry, the life sciences sector, and in horse racing.
Immigration law interested me because of my international background, but the most rewarding part of this area is having a unique window into people’s lives and being able to help them achieve their goals.
She also provides advice to high-net-worth clients who trust her to be on hand to advise on their immigration needs. Kelly has previously advised a family for over 15 years with their domestic worker visas, and also obtained status for a woman who was a victim of modern slavery. Drawn to complicated cases, she has overturned several visitor entry clearance refusals, three of which had a 10-year ban where the Home Office wrongly accused the clients of deception.
