Associate

Kate is an associate in the family team in London. She advises on a wide range of family law issues including financial disputes following the breakdown of a relationship, nuptial and cohabitation agreements, and arrangements for children.

She has particular experience in advising high net worth clients and dealing with complex financial disputes, often with an international element. As a member of Resolution, Kate is committed to approaching family disputes in a constructive way. She advocates the use of out of court dispute resolution where appropriate.

After reading law at Exeter University, Kate joined the graduate programme in mergers and acquisitions tax at Deloitte before pivoting to family law in 2017. She trained and worked at a specialist divorce and litigation firm in the City, qualifying in September 2019, before moving to a family law boutique in the West End. Kate joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2024. She is recognised as a key lawyer by the Legal 500. Kate has been praised by clients for her ‘calm yet firm guidance’, ‘professionalism, kindness and empathy’ and ‘excellent practical advice’.

Acting for a UK-based wife in her successful application to top up her financial award following matrimonial proceedings in France on the basis that she should not have had to use her French divorce award for unpaid child maintenance.

European forum dispute

Representing an EU national living in England during his application to stay his wife’s financial application here to allow a divorce to progress in their home country, which he considered to be the more appropriate jurisdiction.

International relocation issues

Representing a mother seeking to relocate to the UK from the UAE when the father’s position was that he could not himself spend time in the UK.

Interpretation of pre-nuptial agreement

Representing a husband in financial remedy proceedings where the interpretation of a prenuptial agreement was being contested.
