Profile

Sam is a senior associate in the firm’s London based construction and infrastructure team, specialising in construction and related insurance disputes.

He has a handled a broad range of claims arising under construction contracts, and has experience of all forms of dispute resolution. He has a particular focus on issues arising from professional negligence of construction consultants, such as claims with respect to defects and delay. In addition, Sam has recently developed a strong practice in claims relating to fire safety. Sam also regularly advises on issues relating to termination on construction projects and insurance cover under NHBC and Premier Guarantee policies.  

As a skilled litigator, Sam’s expertise, knowledge and experience of construction disputes has led him to achieve considerable outcomes for his clients.  

Recent work highlights

  • Acting on behalf of a property investment fund in a multi-party TCC dispute over alleged design and construction defects in respect of a residential block of flats in East London. The defects led to significant water damage, the extent of which meant that the property required demolishing.
  • Advising a property investment fund over alleged fire safety defects to a six block high rise development in London. Damages linked to the repair works to the buildings are circa £40 million.
  • Acting on behalf of a consulting engineering firm in a multi-party TCC dispute over its design services linked to a high net worth residential property featured on the Channel 4 series Grand Designs.
