Eleanor Moodey, Associate at Penningtons Manches
Areas of expertise: Family law, Private wealth

Profile

Eleanor is a senior associate in the Oxford family team. Advising on all aspects of private family law, including divorce, cohabitation, financial disputes and children matters, she has a particular interest in financial cases with an international element, as well as the internal and external relocation of children.

An active member of Resolution in Oxfordshire, Eleanor is on the local committee for both Resolution and YRes. She is dedicated to working constructively to settle her clients’ cases if at all possible and is rigorous in their defence if court proceedings are necessary.

She first joined Penningtons Manches Cooper as a trainee and qualified in 2014. Following two years at a niche family law practice, Eleanor returned to Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2017. A graduate of the University of Oxford, she obtained her LLB from the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice.

Recent work highlights

  • Acting for the mother in defence of an application for summary return abroad in the High Court and securing an order that the mother and child can remain living in England.
  • Acting for the father in an international relocation case where the mother had applied to move with the children to Scotland. The relationship between the father and one child was limited and there were arguments concerning parental alienation issues.
  • Advising the husband in an international dynastic case on maintenance and an initial settlement with his wife, as well as subsequently on the capitalisation of maintenance to his wife from family trusts.
