Joanna Blakelock

Senior associate

Joanna is a senior associate in the family team in Guildford. Her legal practice deals with all aspects of relationship breakdown including divorce, financial settlements, cohabitee separations, TOLATA litigations and pre- and post-nuptial agreements.

She has also acted in often complicated private law children cases throughout her career, dealing not only with the day to day issues involved in family breakdown but also cases involving serious allegations of harm and parental alienation. Joanna has assisted clients who have sought to move internally within England and Wales, and internationally and has dealt with associated abduction issues.

I am passionate about providing balanced and pragmatic advice to clients to assist them to achieve realistic and fair outcomes in all aspects of my family law practice, including divorce, dissolution, financial settlements and child arrangements. I prioritise the needs of children in my advice wherever necessary.

Joanna Blakelock, Senior associate

As a trained mediator, Joanna is committed to resolving issues amicably and pragmatically, without unnecessary conflict wherever possible. She strives to provide solution-focused advice to clients to assist them in achieving realistic and fair outcomes but, if best attempts at resolving the case are unsuccessful, she is experienced in helping clients through alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and arbitration, using the court process as a last resort.

Joanna is a committed member of Resolution, an organisation of family lawyers and family justice professionals. She sits on the Surrey Resolution Committee and was previously on the National Committee for Surrey YRes, supporting junior solicitors at the outset of their careers. She has written articles for a number of legal publications and regularly speaks at events, national conferences and seminars.
