Jo Sinclair

Associate

Jo is an associate in the employment team, based in the firm’s London office. She acts for a range of individuals and staff associations.

As a member of Penningtons Manches Cooper’s Police Federation team, Jo acts on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. She has a particular focus on discrimination, harassment and victimisation, and advises on regulatory issues and internal policies and procedures including grievances. Jo’s work requires her to regularly represent clients in employment tribunals and civil courts, as well as to support the wider team by assisting with large group claims. She often advises on the drafting and negotiation of settlement agreements.

I am an employment lawyer advising on a range of complex employment matters with a particular focus on discrimination. I am commended by clients for my empathetic and practical advice.

Jo Sinclair, Associate

Jo joined the firm in 2023 after qualifying as a solicitor in 2021 at another City-based firm. Previously, she advised senior executives and small businesses and provided general HR support. This included drafting staff handbook policies and employment contracts for a variety of clients, as well as advising on exit strategies and on settlement negotiations. Jo is a member of the Employment Lawyer Association.

Disability discrimination

Negotiating the successful settlement of a police officer’s claim for disability discrimination against her force in the employment tribunal, leading to an award for injury to feelings.

Unsatisfactory performance

Representing a police officer in an unsatisfactory performance procedure, which successfully led to the officer being retained by the force.

Race discrimination

Representing a police officer in a claim for race discrimination against his force in the employment tribunal, which resulted in an award for injury to feelings.
