Senior associate

Jessica is an associate in the construction and infrastructure team based in London. Her experience covers a range of non-contentious construction projects and developments.

Jessica has acted for a variety of commercial clients, including developers, contractors, investors, purchasers and social housing associations. She has advised on and negotiated industry standard building contracts including JCT, NEC and FIDIC, professional appointments, collateral warranties and development agreements, and has particular expertise in the housing sector. In addition to acting on a number of large scale commercial and residential schemes, she has been involved in university and student accommodation schemes, hospital projects, care home schemes and mixed used developments.

I advise our clients on a wide range of construction matters, which recently has included advising on building safety, particularly in higher-risk buildings. I look to offer commercially-driven solutions that best meet the needs of my clients.

In recent months Jessica has advised on a number of building safety related claims. She acts for a range of clients advising them on what options are available, how best to ensure buildings and businesses remain compliant with the evolving legislation in this area, and how best to recover from responsible parties. This work has involved advising on a number of insolvencies in the construction industry, including on contractors that are in administration, liquidation and CVAs.

Jessica joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2019. She trained at another leading City law firm, which included a six-month secondment in Singapore.

Drafting and negotiating the construction documentation for a 580 energy efficient unit development, including affordable housing, in Walthamstow, East London.

Residential development

Drafting and advising on a residential development comprising 600 units in Wandsworth, which included 35% affordable housing.

Fire safety compliance

Assisting a G15 housing association on a review of numerous portfolios that had fire safety defects and advising on how to bring claims against developers.

Contractor insolvency

Advising a G15 housing association on the best steps to take following the insolvency of a contractor across two sites.
