Jean‑François Le Gal is head of international arbitration and a market-leading international disputes partner advising corporates, financial institutions, investors, state-owned entities and high-net-worth individuals on complex cross-border litigation, international arbitration and multi-jurisdictional enforcement matters.
His practice is particularly focused on Africa, the Middle East and Europe, where he frequently manages disputes involving multiple jurisdictions, legal systems and asset recovery strategies. Dual-qualified in England and Wales and France as an avocat, solicitor, solicitor-advocate and barrister, Jean‑François combines civil law and common law expertise to provide strategic, commercially focused advice in high-value international disputes. He is also a registered legal practitioner before the DIFC Courts, enabling seamless representation across key international dispute resolution centres.

Jean‑François regularly acts as counsel in ICC and LCIA arbitrations and advises on disputes in the energy, infrastructure, construction, natural resources and financial services sectors. He is frequently instructed on complex enforcement and recovery actions and has extensive experience securing strategic remedies in support of arbitration proceedings. In addition to his counsel work, he is regularly appointed as arbitrator in international commercial disputes.
An active contributor to the international arbitration community, Jean‑François has served on the committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators London Branch and taught English law, arbitration and comparative dispute resolution at institutions including Sciences Po and Paris Dauphine University.
