Profile

Louise is a senior associate in our private client team specialising in trusts, tax and estate planning, and estate administration.

She advises in relation to the preparation of wills, lasting powers of attorney and estate administration. Louise also has a particular interest in international matters, and she frequently advises private individuals on residence and domicile, assists with complex probate matters where assets are located in multiple jurisdictions, and also provides advice to trust companies on the structures which they administer.

Prior to joining the team in July 2022 from another London firm, Louise worked in Zurich, Switzerland, as legal counsel to a trust company for four years. She qualified as a solicitor in 2011. Louise has been a member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) since 2014 and a member of Solicitors for the Elderly since 2020.

  • Advising on lifetime gifting, the availability of reliefs, the benefits of trusts as part of estate planning and advising on the taxation of UK trusts.
  • Assisting with high value and complex probate matters which involve assets in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advising on the remittance basis, the Statutory Residence Test and the UK taxation of offshore structures.
  • Acting for a UK family with a substantial UK property portfolio on the tax planning opportunities available following the sudden death of the patriarch.
  • Acting for a billionaire client on the tax exposure of an offshore structure owning residential properties in the UK, advising on the options available to make the structure more tax efficient.
  • Advising a non-UK resident client on his domicile status and on the tax planning opportunities available to him and his wife, including drafting domicile statements.
